WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?
Telehealth refers to the use of digital information and communication technologies (computers, iPads/tablets, mobile phones) to access health care services remotely and manage your health care. re: physio can provide a consultation and treatment via secure video call.
DOES IT WORK?
In short, yes! Studies have shown that, due to the empowering nature of the system, outcomes are similar or can be better than face to face physiotherapy consultations. You are put in charge of your own recovery.
IS MY CONDITION/INJURY ABLE TO BE TREATED VIA VIDEO CONSULTATION?
Most musculoskeletal conditions are able to be treated via telehealth. If, after initial discussion and subjective assessment, your specific condition is deemed unsuitable for a video consultation, you will be referred on and your consultation fee will be refunded.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE CONSULTATION?
You will be asked a series of structured questions designed to enable your clinician to gather the information they need regarding your presenting injury and any relevant history. You may then be asked to perform specific movements to allow for a more detailed assessment. Your physio will then discuss their findings with you, talk over the expected recovery process, and provide you with techniques to manage your own recovery. You will also have access to a structured exercise program tailored specifically to your condition.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT?
You will need a reliable internet connection and a device that enables video conferencing (a computer/tablet/mobile phone.) No files need to be downloaded: You will be able to access the consultation via a link that will be sent with your booking confirmation.
IS IT SECURE?
Yes. It is a secure connection and encrypted end to end.
CAN I GET A HEALTH FUND REBATE?
Many health insurance companies now provide rebates for telehealth consultations. It is best to contact your provider directly for specific information relevant to your policy. re: physio can provide a digital receipt for you to send to your insurance company.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY ONLINE CONSULTATION?
Online consultation payments can be made through the Stripe system. Payment is required at the time of booking the appointment.
